r.a.d. editor V 4.02 can use either the classic Windows modal dialogs or its own custom dialogs. Moreover, the status bar, which is mandatory for all browser windows in SP2, will not be displayed, preserving the proper graphic design of the dialogs.

Four ways to strip Word formatting
r.a.d. editor makes pasting content from Word quite easy with four options for stripping the Word-specific tags, which are not suitable for the web: strip Word tags on paste, strip Word tags after paste, paste plain text, or forced paste plain text (for every paste).

Enhanced tools and dialogs
rad editor V 4.0 introduces significantly improved dialogs, which make the work with the content editor a much more natural and convenient experience. The dialogs for managing Image, Flash, Windows Media, and Documents now include features like file sorting, preview, zoom, ability to create and delete folders, etc.

CSS-based skinning
r.a.d. editor has been completely reworked to accommodate the new CSS-based skinning mechanism. The table management dialogs have been significantly enhanced. New tools for setting alignment, borders, and colors are introduced. Users can also set image backgrounds for tables and cells. Cell merging and splitting is also possible through the right-click menu.

Improved application of styles
A new a powerful algorithm for style handling has been introduced, which allows CSS styles to be applied very intelligently, without overlapping of tags. The style selectors in the table and hyperlinks dialogs now also provide style-preview.

New Undo/Redo mechanism
A new Undo/Redo mechanism has been introduced to allow reverting of complex actions, which were impossible to undo before. Examples of such actions are creation of tables, application of styles, inserting Flash and Windows Media, etc. With r.a.d. editor V 4.0 you can now safely undo those actions.

Support for .NET 2.0 Themes mechanism
rad editor V 4.0 has full support for the Themes mechanism that will be introduced in .NET 2.0. Moreover, the component allows you to employ this convenient way for control configuration even with .Net V 1.0 and 1.1.

Cross-browser support: IE, Netscape, Mozilla
r.a.d. editor is the first ASP.NET content editor to support non IE browsers (Netscape 7.1+, Mozilla 1.3+). Due to the major incompatibilities between the browser platforms the component has been rewritten completely to ensure correct behavior.

Spellchecking with the MS Word dictionaries
rad editor V 3.1 is shipped with an updated spellchecking component, r.a.d. spell V 1.1, which can now also use the dictionaries of Microsoft Word XP or 2003. (Note: Microsoft Word XP or 2003 must be installed on the server).

Easy localization through XML
All labels, buttons, tooltips and error messages are located in external XML files, so that the language of the editor can be switched with a single property. You can also create a new language in a matter of minutes. The default installation is shipped with 3 languages: English, German, and French.

Document uploader (PDF, DOC, CHM, etc.)
This tool allows the end-user to place various types of documents directly through the editor, eliminating the need of using FTP. A link to the uploaded resource is automatically generated, which makes the process even more straightforward.

XHTML compliant
The content of the editor can be obtained in HTML, XHTML or text-only format.

Option to save content directly in the ASCX/ASPX file
r.a.d. editor is the only content editor that offers built-in functionality for saving content directly in the page/control. This feature is very convenient for the numerous static areas on a web-site (e.g. welcome text, FAQ, company information, contacts, etc.), which don't really need to be in a database..
Moreover, this feature allows you to turn any static site into an editable one and let your clients take care of the content management. They will love it and you can charge more for this greater value.

Mechanisms for enforcing user roles (insert, upload, delete rights)
rad editor is built with security in mind to facilitate integration even in large enterprise-wide systems. This requires strict definition and enforcing of user roles. With r.a.d. editor administrators have the ability to control insert, upload, and delete rights for images, Flash, Windows Media, and documents... John from Marketing can insert images and Flash from the common .\Img and .\News folders, upload to .\News and .\John, and delete only from .\John. You can further specify that John can edit only the "Special offers" section on the homepage, but not the "Welcome" text, which is controlled by the PR department.

Effortless integration in CMS, IBuySpy, newsletters, forums, etc.

Toolbar can be on the page or in a dialog
In order to ensure true WYSIWYG experience rad editor can display its toolbar not only on the page, but also in a separate dialog. In case you have a narrow editable space, but you still want to use the full set of buttons, you may use r.a.d. editor as a floating dialog and avoid stretching of the editable content.

Ability to apply styles to objects (tables, images, links, etc.)
To further streamline rapid content formatting and facilitate design consistency, rad editor allows end-users to apply styles (CSS classes) not only to text but also to objects like tables, hyperlinks, images, etc.
